Lanstorm Cancelled

It is a sad day indeed. We had 13 people sign up for the lan. Many more people had promised attendance, but failed to follow through on those promises. Of the 13 people that signed up, only 11 are actually still planning on comming. It just isn't enough to go through the immense amount of work it takes to throw a lan together. I will be adding sections in the forums for game discussions and a section under the Lanstorm forum for people to request a LAN. if there gets to be enough people interested I will reschedule the event.

You can now sign up for the next Lanstorm. You can also sign up for the Forums and let us know what you want at the LAN. We will aslo be discussing the food we'll be serving. As always Food will be covered by the cost of admission, but Drinks are not. There is a Corner store right next door if you need to get beverages. In the past we've had Pizza, Sloppy Joes, and chilli, just to name a few. Just an FYI, don't ask for caviar..... yuck. The Forums are a bit generic and obviously need some work, but they are functional. Deal with it for now :).

The Next Lanstorm will be held in Klemme on Saturday February, 9th 2008! I will be re-setting up the Forums so that we can begin to get feedback from those that are comming about what games they want to play, food they want to eat, and what tournaments should be held. Look for those and the signup to be rolling by the 19th. There will be quake wars played. But we'll be more than happy to play what the majority wants to play. See ya there!

Well we went, we saw, and well, we won. We didn't enter the official tournaments since they were odd games that we either didn't care about, hated, or weren't in the mood for. But we played a few games of quake wars against some folks. They played well, but we came out on top. In fact, we didn't loose a game all night. They had a Wii, PS3, and Xbox360 available. The 360 was setup for Rock Band. Lo showed everyone how to rool at the vocals part, while I showed everyone that I'm not really very good at anything on that game. :) Next Lanstorm date will be posted Monday.

Well I know the website needs some TLC, and hopefully I get around to it more often. We have been practicing up for LANs and have even attened the De-frag LAN down in Amana. We had a blast. With only 6 people (one who had never played the game before) we got 3rd place in a tourney with teams with 8 members. Not too shabby. Beto and I Won a game of Quake 4 Driver's Ed. One of us using the keyboard and the other using the mouse. End score? Us 50, 2nd place 30. Booyah. Beto also got 2nd place in the guitar hero tournament. We had alot of fun and will sure be back next year. Tomorrow we are attending the DSMGG lan party. Link to both LAN web sites are on the right. Look for a Lanstorm in January. We will once again be gathering in Klemme. I am still hammering out the exact date and will post it as soon as I know.

Sidewinder ETQW dedicated Server

If you want to pratice with, or against us, we have a dedicated server running the default port at 207.32.1.141. I will probably add a few more games to the server as just one server instance never spikes the cpu usage above 9%.

The Sidewinder Clan is going to the De-frag lan There will be ETQW and Q4 there. Be sure and get on over to their site and sign up if you can go. Its the weekend of November 9th They go for 40 hours! The sidewinderclan will be there whipping ass :)

Its true!! The release date from ID and Splash Damage is out! October 2nd 2007! The changing of release dates is over! So everyone save that 50 bucks up to go buy it when it comes out. We are gonna have a good time!

Signup is Ready

You can now signup for the next Lanstorm on September 22nd. It is unlikely that we will be able to play quake wars, but I bet we can still have a good time. Ebgames estimates the release date to be 9-3-2007. Best Buy has a release date of 10-1-2007. These are all just guesses of course. Looks like we'll just have to be patient. But to pass the time, lets get together and play some games..

LAN Party on?

So the next LAN date has been set. The Signup is not open at this time, but by the end of this weekend it will be. We need to get enough people together to make it worth setting up all our equipment. I want at least 16 people signed up by September 8th. That gives me plenty of time to cancel if I need to. I'd like to see some good Quake Wars games. As usual, however, we will play what the majority wants. I hope everyone is getting a copy of ETQW on September 3rd.

Quake Wars Beta

So Doc and I managed to get into the beta of Quake Wars. This version of the beta is online only, The bots have not been put in place. That aside, this game is awesome. The balance isn't perfect, but it is beta. It works very well considering its a pre-release. To put it briefly, its fun as hell.

New Quake 4 update!

ID software has released a new patch for Quake 4. Adding many new features. Check out the readme for more info. I'll have the patch available in the next day or so. Also, the quake wars release date has remained the same for a few days now. Dare we hope that it will stay 8-1-07?

So who knows when quake wars is comming out. Its been pushed back again. Currently looks to be the first of August. All we can do is wait of course. you might notice the forums are down. Quake Wars!!!

Quake wars is being relased early July. It should prove to be an attractive game to fans of both the quake games and the battlefeild type games. The graphics are fantastic, the gameplay looks to be intense. We have a dedicated server for LANS and for the internet now. It is a Dual Xeon duo 1.86. Thats 4 Cores of intel goodness. 4 gigs of RAM and 500 gigs of Raid 0 SATA 3 gb drives. As soon as I get my hands on the game I'll have the dedicated server up and I'll post the connection info. This is gonna rOOl!

There is a new section of the web site. The link is on the left. It will contain all the games I create while screwing around with C++. Later there will be 3d games available. Right now I'm still in the text window kind of stuff. Keep checking back. I should have a word jumble game up in the next week or 2.

Anyone there? Anyone read these things? Anyway I know all the links don't work, although I don't know if anyone has even noticed. Post in the Lanstorm section of the forums if you feel like you want another LAN party. There seems to be fewer and fewer gamers in northern Iowa and Southern MN. Beto blames WOW and the nOObfest that has become. Anyone who knows where all the gamers are, let us know. Because games are being played, of this I am sure. Quake anyone???

In case you haven't read the forums, Savage is now available as a free download from the developers website. I have found a dedicated server for it so now we shouldn't have to leave anyone out of the fun. We'll be having Quake 3 and 4 tournaments. We may have additional tournaments as well, but only if there is enough interest. Keep your eyes on id software over the next couple months. Quake wars will be comming out and should be a VERY fun LAN game. Keep practicing and tell everyone you can to sign up for the next lan. The more the better. Laterz

Got the Forums up and running with the newest XMB software. I don't have all the customizations done, but its usable. Sadly all the previous posts and registrations were lost due to the hacking of our web host. The signup for the next lanstorm is now ready for use. Please sign up if you are comming. $10 if you pre-register. $15 at the door. Soon I'll have the lanstorm section back up with all the details about the lan party.

Well the site is still kind of a wreck. I've been kinda busy killing pixels in Titan Quest and a Beta of a program that I'm not allowed to discuss due to an NDA. We are however having a Lan party Saturday November 11th. Should be a good time. Sorry the forums don't work at this time, but I'll get them back up soon. You my have to resign up for them. The signup for the next lan will be open starting this weekend. I'll post when its ready.

Alright nOObs, lets do this thing! LAN party tomorrow! Got people comming from Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and various other locations. Due to the lack of attendance we won't be providing food, but there is a restaraunt accross the street, and a convenience store next door. Even though we are going to have a small group, we should still have some great competition and fun. Guess we just weeded out the fodder for this one! Booyah!

So I see the signup is a little slim. Remember that if you sign up you save $5. Ten bucks if you sign up 15 if you don't. The signup looks mighty slim, so lets try and get some interest built up. If we don't get enough folks signed up we'll reschedule it. Maybe that's a bad weekend or something.

Well we've fragged and been fragged. We won some (quake) and lost some (CS:S). Made some new friends and shot them. All in all a pretty damned good time. I declare it a success. Please post in the forums what you thought. Good or Bad. And now... on to the future. I am going to be working with the owners of the store next door to get us some kind of discount on snacks and the like. Next LAN date is set for the 3rd of June. Everyone head over to the 50 cal site and sign up for the LAN this Saturday if you can make it. Contact either Beto or me for car pooling options.

Next Lanstorm is comming right up. Its the day after tomorrow in fact. Looks like we're going to have a good turn out. I'd like to encourage everyone to use the forums a bit more and plz let me know if you would like a section that isn't there. Please let everyone know to sign up so we know how much pizza to order. Also I'd like everyone who can to plan on going to cedar rapids on the 22nd to support the 50 CAL guys since they're bailing up here for ours. Check the Lanstorm section for any questions on the LAN. We will be having some new folks show up for the next Lanstorm on the 15th. There is another Iowa lan party in Cedar Rapids called 50 CAL LAN. I've been in contact with them and some of them will be making the drive up to game with us. The -SW- Clan will also be going to their next LAN as long as the scheduling works out. Check out their web site. Oh they are really good CS:S players, so better practice. Don't slack off on quake too much though. :)

So the next LAN is set. Hope everyone can make it. I will be listing our party on lanparty.com from now on too so maybe we'll start pulling in a few new folks to pwn. There will be a new rule for signups starting after this next LAN. Since the signup is working, preregistered users pay $10 at the door. Walk-ins will be $15. As I said, this doesn't count for the 15th, but will for future LANs. If anyone has a preference for food, please mail me or post on the forums. One last thing before I quit rambling... I will be adding a link for information on the Lanstorm events soon. So if you need more info before you sign up, check back soon. I'm out.
Ok I worked on the site like a bit. All the links should work now. The signup even works. I will have the next Lanstorm date up on the site soon. I have to book the room first. We've started playing counter strike source so that maybe some of the noobs will play with us. It should be a fun time though. So everyone go BUY the game so we can play it. I would assume by now everyone has mastered Quake 4 and would like a shot at the Sidewinder Clan. Well Febuary 4th is your chance! To be honest I don't think too many of the clan members have actually played quake 4 much. So practice up and maybe earn yourself a spot on our team. One of the benefits is that you get in to Lanstorm LAN parties for free!

So Saturday is the Lan Party! All are welcome to come. It will be at the Klemme Community Center. Please email me if you don't know where it is. I am going to try and get the info and map up on the site soon, but I've got a lot of crap goin down. Anyway, back to the LAN. The entry fee is $10. But Supper will be provided. We will be having sloppy joes, beans, and chips. We will be recruiting members throughout the day, plus we will have a Quake 3 tournament. Other tournaments and games played will be dependant on what people have and what the general populace wants. Party starts at Noon and will go till 2 AM sunday morning. Frag ya later!
